Dylan Borgman has always thrived at the intersection between science and art. He graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. in studio art with a focus in painting and photography. He also possessed a deep instinctual understanding of computers and the creative software they ran. Determined to make art a career, he worked at the forefront of the digital photography revolution in 2005 when he began advising photographers on digital photography software in exchange for apprenticeships.
Over the years he has photographed wildlife, fashion, beauty, journalism, weddings, portraits and products but he found his true passion in 2009 when he decided to shoot a submission to the website SuicideGirls.com. Within three months, his work was being published on the front page. He named his new venture Seahorse Productions after the leafy sea dragon tattooed on his back.
Since then Borgman’s work has not stagnated. He still paints, sculpts, renders and photographs projects that please his diverse interests. His ongoing project during the past five years has been photographing candid moments and architectural details in natural history exhibits, a theme which dates back to middle school when he volunteered as a docent at his local natural history museum.
Borgman never stopped learning either. He continued to build upon his knowledge of computers has held a variety of systems engineer positions for the film industry. He taught digital photography classes at Art Center of Design in Pasadena, Pomona College and Cypress College in Anaheim. He was awarded several grants for his painting and photography projects, featured in articles for The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Cincinnati Post, Cincinnati Magazine and Fixie Magazine. His work has been shown at the Cincinnati Museum of Art and the Montgomery Art Center and he was given the Golden Galaxy Award for Journalism.
He currently lives in Los Angeles with a dog named Cozmo.
